Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover

Rating 4/5. Another one of Colleen Hoover’s that hits your heart bones

Wow. Colleen hoover sure knows how to put you through an emotional grinder. My heart bone broke with Beyah and healed with her. I loved how strong Beyah was. I definitely cried when Beyah spoke about how she grew to her dad and when she read letters of samson’s dad. The book definitely makes you grow #heartbones.

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Rating 4/5

Wow I was skeptical about taking this book after reading the blurb. But I am happy I read it. The twists and turns in this book keeps you hooked. For me the book got over too soon. Colleen hoover takes you on an emotional roller coaster.Ā  There are pages where I couldn’t fathom a person could have such a dark side as verity Crawford. This book is not for weak hearted. It has lot of negative emotions.

I wouldn’t call myself I enjoyed the book that requires this book to be a light read but I definitely couldn’t put it down even when I couldn’t handle the emotions it kept me a captive.

Kudos to Hoover for writing such a book with aplomb

It ends with us by Colleen Hoover

Rating 5/5

Wow mind blowing.  When i started the book i thought i am in for a light reading, God! How wrong I was. I loved Lily, she is definition of women empowerment.

Colleen has written a breathtaking novel. I fell in love along with Lily and when she finally decided it broke my heart even knowing it is the right decision It takes a strong women to break the cycle.

I hope everyone reads this book, it has lot to offer to both men and women.this book shows some decisions might be bitter, but it is for the better.

The duke of storms by Jennifer monroe

*spoilers*
I felt the story had nothing unusual. A duke with a harsh up bringing falling for an independent women. I skipped few pages as it was little too long.

Emma Barrington, a bookkeeper’s tries to keep her father’s business afloat. Emma , an intelligent woman not understanding Lord Miggs intention didn’t do justice to her intellect or courage.

Lucas, a duke with a bad temper falls for Emma. He asks her tutor him to control his emotions especially his anger. Lucas could’ve been portrayed better.

Lemoncella Cocktail by Rene Natan

Rating :2/5

Lemoncella Cocktail by Rene Natan is a slow paced crime stand alone novel . The story is about Patrick, a good Samaritan trying to help save Amelia and her family. Amelia witnesses a gun trafficking and now bad guys want to eliminate her.

Patrick Carter, a troubled young man, while walking back home hears a cry for help by the river side. He rushes to save the drowning girl (Samantha) and on being the hero, his world turns upside down .

The author made the story very long and slow. The first few chapters held my interest after which I lost it. I understand the author was trying to make the story feel real but I am sure even in real life the “cops” would act much faster. The bad guys were destroying Samantha’s family left and right. There were instances in the book where I felt the author just wanted to drag the story for example giving the villain time to scout Samantha’s house in-spite of several cameras around the house and this being discovered only a day later by the police. I am assuming the author wanted to show the villains were equally brilliant but on doing so she made the cops look dim witted.

The romance between Patrick and Emy ( an investigator) was very awkward. It felt like they were forced to romance each other. I liked Amelia and Samantha’s grandmother. She was one strong lady who took care of her grandchildren more than their parents. She held together after tragedy hit her.Justin was a brilliant kid but in some places he sounded much older than a 5 year old.

On reading the blurb I expected a much more fast paced thriller where as this novel was lethargic. Places where the scenes were intense , Nathan made it sound like yet another day. On the positive note the book had no loose ends and all the way through the book the characters were portrayed strong and resilient.

The story would have been more interesting with proper scenes and dialogues to create suspense. Even though the characters were likable , their behavior were at times unrealistic. I believe “take life as it comes and move forward”Ā  is the message Natan wanted to pass on however it could have been portrayed better in the book. I felt all the characters were too quick to move on after tragic incidents. One last thing before I conclude, if you are trying to figure out the relationship between the title and the story, you are sure to be disappointed. The reason for the title is revealed at the very end and it is unexpected. Finally, if you like a fast paced thriller, then this book is definitely not for you.

Cold Blood-Robert Bryndza

Rating:5/5

The book is my first from the author however I saw high praise for the author’ s other books. The book starts with DCI Erika Foster finding a suitcase that has a human finger stinking out. She is put on the investigation where she relates that there was another body cut up the same way and dumped. The autopsy report shows that the body carried cocaine.

The way Erika solves the crime is very interesting, Though there are certain places where the investigation takes a convoluted route, the book still keeps you glued. I liked the author spins the story.

I definitely recommend this book.

Cold Blood: A gripping serial killer thriller that will take your breath away (Detective Erika Foster Book 5) by [Bryndza, Robert]Cold Blood

Cold Cuts- Douglas Lindsay

Rating:4/5

The book is fast paced thriller. It starts with parts of human meat being served in a restaurant. The case investigated by DI Aliya Pereira and her partner DS Marc Bain . Within the circle she is known as the box ticker and complete opposite to Bain who talks mile a minute.

The investigation takes them through meat processing unit where they try to find the places the meat is distributed and where exactly the human meat is added. The story is quite intriguing and finding the murderer at the end is a surprise.

I liked the book.

The 11.05 MurdersĀ – Brain O’Hare

The 11:05 Murders

The book starts with a murder that happens on a Tuesday exactly at 11:05 PM. The week after that another murder occurs the same way. The police scramble to find evidence and to prevent another murder. Detective Stewart, Detective Tom and DCI Sheehan try to solve the murder and also keep the information gathered close as they suspect a leak in the station.
Women detective Denise Stewart ( a newbie to the station) , while going through the first victim’s computer ,finds an encrypted folder that has a photo of 3 men and a newspaper clipping dated 12 years back. This picks her curiosity, the newspaper clipping is an obituary of a college student who committed suicide. Stewart calls the college and finds the student was sexually molested which caused clinical depression leading to suicide. On finding this, she believes the murders and the suicide are related. Also the 2 murder victims were the ones in the photo . Now Stewart and her team must find the third man and the killer before the time is up.
I enjoyed reading the novel. It had plenty of twists and turns. The book also sheds light on the tedious work of detectives. The best part was anyone could have been the murderer. Every time I think a person as the murderer, another possible suspect shows up. The book gives importance to every character and everyone plays an equal role. If a reader observes carefully , the murderer can be found before the end of the book. As the clues to the killer lies in careful reading of the book. I don’t have any complaints about the book. The book portrays each character clearly.
This book is the second installment of a series. I did not feel like I needed to have read the first book in order to enjoy The 11:05 Murders. I feel like it could be a stand alone novel in itself, but the idea of it being part of a series encourages me to find the rest of the books and read them as well.
I give The 11:05 Murders by Brian O’Hare 4 out of 4 stars. After a long time I read a good mystery that had a decent romance rather than pages of graphical sex content. Brian O’Hare spins an intriguing web of suspense with several clues as threads.. He shows how emotions play a key part in everyday life and uses them to grow the characters in this book.
The book kept me hooked till the end.I recommend this book for mystery lovers and those who love a good puzzle.I could not find any mistakes during the reading.I felt like I was part of the investigation from start to end.The book starts with a murder that happens on a Tuesday exactly at 11:05 PM.
